Whilst inclusion for organisations involves making choices, it is no longer a choice - it is a necessity.

Inclusion is about creating learning and working environments where everyone can feel free, comfortable and safe to be who they are. The diversity that someone brings to a classroom, workplace, team or organisation should not only be accepted, but celebrated and valued. Research shows that organisations and teams that embrace diversity and are inclusive outperform those that don't.

At UNSW, we encourage everyone to play an active role in building and promoting inclusion in our community.

The SBS Inclusion Program is designed to give all current students and staff core skills and knowledge of inclusion in general, as well as around specific diversity dimensions.

Each course will take around 20-30 minutes to complete.

Core inclusion skills include understanding yourself, not making assumptions, curiosity and understanding the legislative environment.

Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world: 26% of its inhabitants were born overseas, nearly 1 in 2 people have at least one parent born outside the country, and 3% of the population are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

While the conversation around gender equality is centuries old, it is as relevant as ever. There is still a significant gender pay gap and inequality in rates of gender-based crimes, access to education and healthcare, property ownership, political representation, retirement savings, freedom of expression and corporate leadership.

Work enables people with disability to achieve financial independence, improve their social skills, develop friendships and improve their mental health. This course provides improved knowledge on the many types of disability and best practices to foster inclusion of disability in the workplace.
