Everyone belongs at UNSW
Arifa’s migrated to Australia 15 years ago and knows first-hand how isolating it is to arrive in a new country with no extended family or friends. As UNSW Cultural Diversity Champion, Arifa believes cultural diversity is vital to enrich experiences in both our professional and personal lives.
“As a first generation, Muslim, woman migrant from Pakistan, mother, student and part-time employee, I understand what it means to experience the challenges of diversity. I feel fortunate to be part of the change and hope to help to cultivate a culture and environment at UNSW where everyone feels safe, empowered and motivated to build a sustainable, socially just and emotionally fulfilling future.”
Arifa works full-time as the Sustainability Manager to implement UNSW’s environmental sustainability vision, programme and engagement activities across the University.
