At UNSW we believe in a just society.
In fact, it’s a core principle of our 2025 Strategy as we strive to be an international exemplar of equity diversity and inclusion. We believe diversity provides invaluable perspectives enriching the learning, teaching and working experiences for our students and staff.
We seek to foster a culture that is truly inclusive, in which all female-identifying students and staff can participate equally in all areas and levels to achieve their full potential. To help us get there, UNSW has set gender targets to improve the representation of women in senior roles by 2025, including:
- 40% female academic staff at level D and E: 31.5% as of 2018; and
- 50% female professional staff at HEW level 10+: 52% as of 2018, achieving gender parity.
We value the importance of diversity and inclusion in everything we do, and other people are noticing.
In 2018 UNSW was awarded the inaugural Athena SWAN Bronze Institution Award for our work in advancing gender equity and diversity in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) disciplines in higher education and research.
