Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2019

“Building the float with the other marchers has helped develop relationships with students and faculty alike, as well as appreciate the resources and support available to us.” Charlie Bradford, Engineering student and SRC Queer Officer.

UNSW has taken part in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras with the support of the Division of Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) since 2017.

In 2019 the University's mascot, Clancy the Lion led a 'pride' of 80 students and staff. For the first time students designed and built the float. It was the culmination of months of work by students from the faculties of Engineering, Built Environment and Art & Design. See footage of the event and float.
