Sensing Place

Musicians Sarah Jane Moore and Oliver Gathercole invite you to listen in on Sensing Place, an evolving performance series that brings together piano and voice to deliver music that speaks to connection, belonging and the importance of place based dialogues and musical friendships. After Sarah Jane and Oliver perform there will be opportunity for attendees to share their own ideas about where the belong, how they feel place impacts their identities and to share lyrics / poetry / creative writing or ideas after the performance. Dr Sarah Jane Moore is an independent creative artist who lives in Tasmania. She is an Adjunct Associate Lecturer within the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at UNSW. In 2019, she was the ANAT on Country Synapse resident artist and this program enabled her to develop a deep and listening relationship with the Baludarri (Sydney Rock Oyster). In 2020, she received an Australia Council Create Grant which enabled her to collaborate with Oliver Gathercole on Sensing Place.

Oliver Gathercole is a collaborative artist and educator based in his home state of Tasmania. He holds degrees in Music and Education and is often seen performing in various forms with friends at festivals and venues across Australia. At home he enjoys collaborating with different artists and songwriters, teaching music, and particularly his work with choirs and community groups.
