Transgender student support

Transgender students who seek support before, during or affirming transition may choose to speak to a Student Support Advisor who can assist with referrals to services both on and off campus.

They can also help you liaise with the University regarding administrative issues including names and identity.

If you need advice and referrals regarding issues of discrimination and harassment within UNSW, you can book an appointment online.

UNSW offers a preferred name option for students however to formally change your name on your records you will need documentary evidence.

For more assistance, contact The Nucleus Student Hub on (02) 9385 8500.

Gender inclusive bathrooms

UNSW has female, male and unisex toilets. All students are entitled to use the bathroom of their choice.

The roll-out of the gender inclusive (all-gendered bathrooms) at UNSW’s Paddington campus is part of our active commitment to create an inclusive and respectful campus for all students and staff. The Paddington campus is the first campus to partake in this initiative. Students and staff are invited to share the feedback. The intention is to have gender inclusive bathrooms across UNSW campuses. Contact the EDI Team for information.
